Due to changing health requirements for traveling abroad and the fear of being contaminated when leaving, many French people plan their vacations at the last moment. "With the health crisis, we are now in the era of the last second", observes Alain de Mendonça, the general manager of Promovacances, Sunday on Europe 1.

This summer, the holidays are often booked at the very last minute by the French.

The difficult to foresee evolution of health constraints in foreign countries and the fear of being stuck there if the Covid-19 epidemic flares up again have even forced some to make their reservations the day before their departure.

This is what Alain de Mendonça, the general manager of the travel agency brand Promovacances, notes on Sunday on Europe 1. "With the health crisis, we are now in the era of the last second" in the organization vacation, observes the leader.

Departures also possible for the unvaccinated

"People will decide a week before, three days before, four days before, even the day before, to be sure that when they book, they are not contaminated and that the trip is possible", describes Alain de Mendonça. "This year, it's a bit like Mikado. You have to be careful between the red countries, the orange countries, the green countries, knowing that everything is moving."

As a result, some destinations take advantage of these last minute decisions.

"The three destinations which benefit the most from it are Italy, Spain and Portugal", specifies the entrepreneur.

And the unvaccinated, or people who do not have a complete vaccination schedule, are not excluded from this type of reservation.

However, "there was a yoyo", jokes Alain de Mendonça.

"In the beginning, there was no need for a PCR test and then later, in some countries, a PCR test was required."

Alain de Mendonça thus gives advice to these people: "It is to be well informed, to call specialized agencies because for the unvaccinated, it remains a little complicated to leave. But at least we can leave!"
