Israeli Artem Dolgopyat won the floor final at the Tokyo Olympics on Sunday, a first for Israeli gymnastics, while Brazil's Rebeca Andrade took vault gold after winning silver in the all-around.

Dolgopyat, 2017 and 2019 world champion on floor, edged Spaniard Rayderley Zapata with the same number of points (14.933 points) but higher level difficulties.

China's Xiao Ruoteng finished third (14.766 points).

It is the second Olympic title in all sports in the history of Israel.

Israel's first Olympic title dates back to the Athens 2004 Olympic Games in windsurfing thanks to Gal Fridman.

Shortly after, 22-year-old Brazilian Rebeca Andrade set another first by claiming gold in vault (15.083 points) after winning silver in the all-around.

It offers its first Olympic title to its country in women's gymnastics, Brazil having had an Olympic champion in men Arthur Zanetti (on the rings in Rio).

The American Mykayla Skinner, replacement for Simone Biles - came to applaud her compatriots on Sunday - did not deserve by finishing second (14.916 points).

South Korean Yeo Seojeong takes third place with 14.733 points.

Disappointment on the floor: Russian Nikita Nagornyy did well in the triple back pike somersault, the trick he created to become European champion earlier this year, but he made a receiving fault.

He finished in seventh place with 13.066 points, a disappointing score for this member of the team all-around champion team.

Two more finals followed this Sunday: pommel horse and uneven bars.

The French Mélanie De Jesus Dos Santos took advantage of the package of the American superstar Simone Biles to slip into the final of the bars.
