Hospitals in Israel witness an increase in the number of serious cases of corona

The number of people with severe symptoms of coronavirus infection in Israel crossed the 200 mark for the first time since April.

And according to what the Ministry of Health announced today, Sunday, there are 362 patients with the Corona virus receiving treatment in hospitals, 212 of whom are in serious condition, and 37 are on respirators.

It should be noted that the number of seriously ill patients in Israel had reached about 1,200 at the height of the pandemic in January.

In light of the increasing number of infections, the Israeli government became the first government in the world to start giving people over the age of 60 a third dose of the Pfizer / Piontech anti-Corona vaccine, which represents a precedent that other countries are studying.

Approximately 58 percent of a total of 9.3 million Israelis have been fully vaccinated.

The vaccination rate in the group over 50 years old was 88%.

The Ministry of Health says the effectiveness of the Pfizer/Biontech vaccine, which Israel relies on for its vaccination campaign, has declined significantly since June.

Israel recorded more than two thousand new cases of corona, for the sixth consecutive day.
