Blinken commented on the incident with the tanker Mercer Street

“We join our partners and allies in strongly condemning the attack on Mercer Street,” Blinken said.

He stressed that, according to the US, the attack was carried out by Iran.

According to the head of the State Department, the attack was carried out using "drones with explosives."

Blinken added that "The US is working with its partners to explore the next steps and is consulting with governments in the region and beyond on the appropriate response to follow."

British Foreign Minister Dominic Raab said the UK is also working with international partners on an agreed response to Iran over the attack on the Mercer Street tanker.

Earlier it became known that the tanker Mercer Street belonging to the Japanese company under the flag of Liberia was attacked in the Arabian Sea.

Information about the incident, allegedly related to piracy, was confirmed by the London office of the company - operator of the ship Zodiac Maritime.
