Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan congratulated archer Miti Gazoz on winning the gold medal in the men's bow and arrow competition at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, which is Turkey's first medal in this game at the Olympic Games.

This came during a phone call made by the Turkish Minister of Sports and Youth Mehmet Kasapoglu with Erdogan, where he spoke to Gazouz and congratulated him after his gold medal ceremony, today, Saturday, according to the Anatolia correspondent.

Addressing Gazouz, Erdogan said, "You made us very touched, as you entered history as the grandson of the Turkish nation famous for shooting, and I followed your last throw with my eyes full of tears. Congratulations on the victory."

Earlier today, Saturday, Gazos won the gold medal in the men's singles shooting at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, by defeating Italian Mauro Nespoli in the final 6-4.
