Missing People's search effort began today in Alvesta.

Why do you only start a search today?

-

Today is the first day we call in the public.

We who are active in Missing People have already been out and applied this week together with relatives, says Tessan Jigfjord from Missing People.

Last night, the police judged themselves to be 99.9 percent sure that the woman got off the train in Alvesta.

They do not know what happened, but her luggage was missing and her phone was found on the seat where she was sitting.

After an examination of the phone, it can be stated that a map search has been done over Alvesta.

How can you be so sure that it is in Alvesta she stepped down?

- We have talked to other passengers on the train who got on in Nässjö who saw the woman sitting in the train carriage.

But when the train stopped in Hässleholm, the woman's seat was empty, says Mats Thimgren, head of the preliminary investigation at the police.

Checking pictures from train stations

At the same time, the police do not rule out other possibilities.

They have made a new request for pictures from Linköping station.

- We still believe most strongly in Alvesta but we want to exclude that she has taken the train back north, therefore we have requested pictures from Linköping.

But it is not something we have had time to get yet, says Mats Thimgren.

Missing People will begin its search effort in the terrain outside Alvesta and then work its way circularly outwards.

The public interest is great and the spread on social media is breaking records.

The request has been shared 8000 times so far.

- It of course facilitates the search work.

If you have turned 18, you can register in our baldness register and help apply, says Tessan Jigfjord.

Tips from the public

The police have received several tips from the public.

The police are currently working on checking out all the tips that have come in, while at the same time working with their own resources with the search work in Alvesta.
