The US commented on the attack on the UN base in Afghanistan

"The United States condemns the attack on the UN base in Herat by anti-government militants, as a result of which a guard from the local population was killed," TASS quotes the statement of US Permanent Representative to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield.

She noted that international law prohibits attacks on civilians and law enforcement officials.

Thomas-Greenfield added that the US continues to call for an end to clashes in Afghanistan.

Earlier, the UN in Afghanistan condemned the attack on its facility in Herat, which resulted in the death of an Afghan police officer.
