Via a new technology that the Linnaeus students have developed, it is now possible to measure exactly what it looks like with the hive's temperature, bees' weight and air via sensors.

- With this product, we will help beekeepers and bees to survive and feel better and also increase the production of honey, says Oscar Bergström.

Digital solutions

There are several people involved in the project.

For Oscar Bergström, the project has been part of the degree project.

Now they are developing new sensors and an app to be able to monitor the hive with a smart phone.

Saves on transports

Fredrik Ahlgren, senior lecturer at Linnaeus University, believes that new smart solutions to environmental and social problems are very important right now, and that it facilitates life in rural areas.

- If you have a hive that is far out in the forest, then you save on transport and you can keep track of the bees' health in a completely different way then, by connecting the hive, says Fredrik Ahlgren.

The technology will be available in the market within the next few years, Osacar Bergström believes.

In the video above, they explain more about how it works.
