It was last summer that a group of field workers working on the Swedish Mountain Fox Project observed the man near a mountain fox pen, estimated to be only 25 meters from the pen where there were mountain fox cubs.

When the field workers pointed out to the man that he would not be there, he went on a verbal attack, but then left the place.

Has previously received an injunction

The man has previously received an order from the County Administrative Board in Jämtland that he may not be closer than 300 meters from a mountain fox shelter, and if the man is staying at a shelter, consultation with nature conservationists must take place before.

The man has admitted that he was at the scene to photograph the mountain foxes, but denies any wrongdoing.

The penalty for a species protection offense is either a fine or imprisonment for a maximum of two years.
