The city of Poitiers inaugurated this Thursday, July 29 a giant fresco representing the gaze of one of its inhabitants, Tiphaine Véron, whose disappearance in Japan three years ago has not been clarified to date.

"

A wall on an obligatory passage towards many axes of Poitiers, which gives Tiphaine enormous visibility

", explained Sybille Véron, her sister.

At the same time, the family of Tiphaine Véron deplores that the criminal hypothesis has never been really explored by the investigators.

Her brother Damien Véron, who has fought relentlessly for three years to have explanations and obviously hope to find her, has just called on a private detective to find new elements.

A letter rogatory addressed to Japan

An international letter rogatory will also be sent to Japan with a view to carrying out new investigations.

For Damien Véron, interviewed by RFI, the Japanese must comply with this commission: “

There are elements that relate to the procedure such as telephone data.

It is absolutely necessary that the Japanese respond to the international letter rogatory [...] We must act!

They must open a criminal investigation

”.

Tiphaine, a 36-year-old school assistant, who suffered from epilepsy, disappeared on July 29, 2018, two days after arriving in Japan on vacation.

It has vanished without leaving a trace in Nikko, a peaceful tourist city north of Tokyo, surrounded by hills and woods with famous shrines.

Unfortunately I think Tiphaine had a bad meeting.

I am very afraid that she could be kidnapped somewhere

, ”her brother Damien Véron told RFI.

At his hotel, investigators found a passport, suitcase and a carefully prepared tour schedule, making suicide or voluntary disappearance unlikely.

On Saturday, Emmanuel Macron visiting Japan discussed the affair with Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga.

He, according to the Elysee, requested "

all the cooperation of the Japanese executive and judicial authorities

 ".
