Editor's note: The

old Soviet area gave birth to the Chinese revolution and was the original heart of the Chinese Communist Party.

General Secretary Xi Jinping once said affectionately: “I came here in such an atmosphere. Many places where I have worked are old districts, and I have deep feelings for the old districts.”

General Secretary Xi Jinping was born into a revolutionary soldier's family and grew up on the loess slopes of northern Shaanxi. The "red gene" is deeply integrated into his blood.

While working in the local area, he has been paying attention to the development of the local old districts and the living conditions of the people in the old districts.

Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the general secretary's concern for the old districts has remained the same. He has frequently set foot on the red land to visit and sympathize with the people in the old districts.

On the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the "Learning Everyday" column of CCTV.com launched a special plan "The Red Old District Concerned by the General Secretary", telling the story of the red and showing the development and changes of the old district.

Located in the depths of the Taihang Mountains, Fuping, Hebei, was once the capital of the Jinchaji Anti-Japanese Base.

On July 7, 1937, the Anti-Japanese War broke out.

On November 7th of the same year, the Eighth Route Army Jinchaji Military Region was established in Shanxi. 11 days later, the Jinchaji Military Region moved to Fuping.

At the critical moment of national peril, the Eighth Route Army led by the Communist Party of China valiantly advanced to the North China Anti-Japanese Front.

Subsequently, under the leadership of comrades Nie Rongzhen and Peng Zhen, the Jinchaji Anti-Japanese Base Area came into being.

This is the country's first anti-Japanese base area behind enemy lines and one of the main battlefields of the War of Resistance Against Japan.

The statue in front of the Revolutionary Memorial Hall in the Jinchaji Border Region in Fuping County, Hebei, vividly shows the history of the united and heroic resistance of the soldiers and civilians in the Jinchaji Border Region.

At that time, Fuping, with a population of less than 90,000, supported more than 90,000 revolutionary fighters, more than 20,000 people joined the army, and more than 5,000 died.

In the depths of the Taihang of the Eight Hundred Miles, there are glorious red memories engraved, but they have also been deeply trapped by poverty.

In 1942, when Marshal Nie Rongzhen was living in Fuping fighting, he issued a "Leave Order" specifically forbidding troops from picking leaves near the village to compete with the people for "food".

It is evident that Fuping was poor at the time.

After the founding of New China, learning that the people of Fuping were still poor, Marshal Nie Rongzhen shed tears and said: "Fuping is not rich, and you will never die." Xi Jinping heard about this incident while working in Fuzhou and was deeply moved and remembered since then. Nie Shuai said.

At the end of December 2012, just over a month after the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, General Secretary Xi Jinping made a special trip to Fuping County to investigate poverty alleviation and development work.

This is General Secretary Xi Jinping's second local inspection after taking office, and it is also his first visit to impoverished areas.

After traveling more than 700 kilometers and more than 20 hours, the general secretary visited two poor villages, Luotuowan Village and Gujiatai Village, and held two seminars.

"I have a deep impression of Fuping in my mind. I have had an impression since I was a child. This is my complex for the old revolutionary base of Fuping." The general secretary of the inspection said affectionately.

The primary school attended by the General Secretary, Beijing Bayi Primary School, was formerly Rongzhen Primary School in Nanzhuang, Fuping County. Later, the school moved from Fuping to Beijing.

During the inspection, I saw that some villagers in the old districts had not yet shaken off poverty and their lives were still relatively difficult, and the general secretary felt heavy.

"Despite poor natural conditions, backward infrastructure, and low level of development, poor areas also have their own favorable conditions and advantages." He and everyone discussed in detail the ideas for poverty alleviation, and made an in-depth analysis of local resource endowments to encourage local cadres and masses. As long as there is confidence, loess will become gold".

He said: "We must have a sense of responsibility and urgency in fighting poverty, especially in the old areas, and we must do this work with emotion."

Nine years of hard work has really changed the lives of the people in the old district of Fuping.

Starting in 2012, in accordance with the instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping to "firm confidence", "find the right way", "for agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, animal husbandry, and ecotourism when developing ecotourism", combined with oneself With comparative advantages, Fuping has gradually explored and formed six poverty alleviation industrial systems led by modern edible fungi, high-efficiency forests and fruits, and eco-tourism, and achieved full coverage of the county's poor village industries.

These industries have also become the basis for supporting Fuping's stable poverty alleviation.

In February 2020, Fuping withdrew from the ranks of impoverished counties to achieve the goal of alleviating poverty.

The per capita disposable income of rural residents in the county has increased from 3,262 yuan in 2012 to 10,830 yuan in 2020.

Now when walking into Luotuowan Village, red lanterns hang high on both sides of the road, in the farmyard, and on the big stage. The machine rumbling in the luggage factory of Gujiatai Village, the edible mushroom greenhouse is busy, and the characteristic residential houses are cheering and laughing...

"We have a good life", the 8 bright characters erected at the entrance of Luotuowan Village, expressing the gratitude and joy of the people in the old district, and conveying their vision for a better life in the future.
