With vigor and activity, the Palestinian woman, Ghada Abu Hamdan, a resident of the town of Beita in the city of Nablus, in the northern West Bank, spends long hours preparing large quantities of different meals, with the help of her friends Amal and Maryam Bani Shamsa, and a group of Beta women.

She pointed out that the idea of ​​"the least duty" began with the publication by a group of Beta women, an initiative to cook food indoors and serve it to the youth of the mountain, adding: "My friends and I, headed by (Amal) and (Maryam) rushed to embrace the idea, and work to spread it more widely, For the largest number of women to join the initiative.”

The supervisor of the “Less Duty” initiative says: “The initiative was launched by holding a meeting for women to discuss the mechanism of implementing the idea. More than 80 women and girls from Beta residents attended. The agreement was to prepare meals the next day, and it was Friday, when thousands of young men from Beta and the neighboring villages and cities in Qalqilya and Salfit, and we had to honor the town’s youth and its guests, to continue the activities of the popular resistance.”

Abu Hamdan clarifies that the initiative is personal and individual, as it did not receive support from any party or institution. Women “less duty” collect donations from each other, in addition to the contribution of shop owners, and what women and families donate in the town of Beita, whether with money or by providing the necessary foodstuffs .

Beta women produce on a daily basis many daily meals for the youth of Jabal Subaih, most notably maqluba, turnips, brides, and pastries, in addition to meat and chicken meals in the oven and kabsa.

On the other hand, Amal Bani Shamsa, one of the supervisors in the “Less Duty” initiative, confirms that the women’s initiative proves that the women of Beta and Palestine have the ability to properly manage battles and crises, and are able to exist in the arenas and fields of confrontation.
