The temple in Fredrika will be built next year

- This autumn, they have made debt-free from all debts, so then they will start stage two of the temple construction, says the former municipal councilor Bert-Rune Dahlberg.

The debts to various companies have amounted to around SEK 4.5 million.

This, combined with the lack of a major financier, has brought the project to a standstill.

Many obstacles along the way

The plan for a Buddhist temple in Fredrika has been long and met with many obstacles, including a Thai coup and fraud.

The small temple complex that already exists today in Fredrika now looks quite well-kept and abandoned.

But according to Dahlberg, things will soon happen on the spot.

- My hope is that construction will start by the summer of 2022 and that it will then be ready before Christmas.

The plans for the new, smaller temple, on the so-called "Temple Mount" are estimated to cost around 10 million to realize.
