Egypt qualified for the quarter-finals of the men's soccer competition at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, after its 2-0 victory over Australia at the end of the third group matches, while Saudi Arabia called the Olympics by losing 1-3 against Brazil in the fourth group today, Wednesday.

Egypt raised its score to 4 points in second place, outperforming Argentina with a goal difference of 1-1 with leaders Spain with 5 points, while Australia ranked fourth and last with 3 points and bid farewell to the competition.

Egypt set a date with Brazil, the leaders of Group D, in the quarter-finals next Saturday, while Spain meets Ivory Coast on the same day.

Brazil - the gold medalist of Rio 2016 - topped Group D with 7 points to qualify for the quarter-finals, along with Ivory Coast, which raised its score to 5 points, one point ahead of Germany - the Rio runner-up - who finished third and also bid farewell to the competition with Saudi Arabia, which remained without points.

Ahmed Yasser Rayan gave Egypt the lead in the 44th minute, after Ramadan Sobhi's superb start from the left side, then passed brilliantly and sent an elegant pass back to Rayan, who shot into the net.

Ammar Hamdi doubled the score 5 minutes before the end, after a superb pass from substitute Nasser Mansi, who dribbled and shot to block the goalkeeper and the ball bounced back into the goal by Hamdi.

The crossbar responded with a shot from Hamdi in the 70th minute after a pass from Sobhi, who did not take advantage of the ball that was returned by the crossbar to waste a dangerous opportunity.

Richarlison, who scored a hat-trick in the opening match against Germany, scored two consecutive goals in the 67th minute with a header and then made the score 3-1 in the third minute of stoppage time to raise his score to 5 goals and is the top scorer in the competition so far.

Brazil, without its striking force in the Rio Olympics, consisting of Neymar and Gabriel Jesus, scored 4 goals against Germany in the first match, but it suffered until it scored in a goalless draw with Ivory Coast.
