July 28, 2021 A Gambian citizen was arrested by the Carabinieri of the Operational Unit of the Compagnia Roma San Pietro. The man, found in a house in Torre Angela, allegedly sold the heroin found in Libero De Rienzo's house.

The investigations, taken immediately after the discovery of the actor's lifeless body, started from drugs and the environment of the shop in the areas near the place where the victim was found, managing to reconstruct some connections that led the military up to the south-west quadrant of the capital, in particular in the district of Torre Angela. There the Gambian caught in the act of the crime of drug dealing against several people was arrested.

During the subsequent search of the apartment, in the room used by a fellow countryman also in handcuffs, an additional 7.7 grams of the same drug were seized. The investigation has brought out, against the arrested, a solid evidence that has demonstrated the daily activity of home dealing, in particular using the metro to move quickly between the various areas of the capital. According to the carabinieri, it was he who gave the dose of heroin to De Rienzo on the afternoon of Wednesday 14 July. Furthermore, a careful analysis of the telephone records made it possible to identify the position of the dealer right near the Neapolitan actor's home that afternoon.

For the findings that emerged, the Public Prosecutor's Office of Rome issued a decree on last Monday to arrest the suspect of a crime that was carried out by the military of the Operating Unit and thus allowed the suspect to be kept in the Roman prison of Regina Coeli, as well as for several episodes of drug dealing against other subjects, also for having sold the drug to Libero De Rienzo on July 14th. The investigating judge at the Court of Rome, at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office, validated the arrest and applied pre-trial detention for the Gambian.
