In June of last year, North Korea cut off the communication line between the two Koreas by accusing them of distributing leaflets to the North, and completely blown up the Kaesong Joint Liaison Office.

10 am today after 1 year and 1 month.

[Our liaison representative: This is the Seoul office of the inter-Korean joint liaison office.

I am very happy that the call is resumed after a year or so.] On the

68th anniversary of the armistice agreement, the communication network between the two Koreas was restored.

Three lines were restored at the same time, including the military communication line to the channel of Panmunjom and the inter-Korean liaison office.

The agreement between the leaders of the two Koreas was a direct trigger.

The Blue House explained that President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un have communicated about the restoration of inter-Korean relations through exchanges of personal letters several times since last April.

[Park Soo-hyeon / Chief of Public Communication at the Blue House: During this process, it was agreed to restore the communication line that was cut off first.] The two

Koreas

agreed

to continue regular phone calls twice on weekdays, in the morning and in the afternoon.

A Blue House official said, however, that the hotline call between the leaders of the two Koreas is a matter to be discussed in the future, and there has been no discussion about holding a video summit.
