The Foreign Ministry reported that "in recent days, the internal political situation in the Tunisian Republic has worsened."

The ministry recalled that on July 25, Tunisian President Qais Said "in accordance with his constitutional powers, dismissed Prime Minister H. Meshishi and suspended the work of parliament."

"All executive power is temporarily concentrated in the hands of the head of state," the message says.

The ministry said that "according to incoming reports, in the Tunisian capital and large cities, a generally calm situation remains, the international airport, utilities, and transport infrastructure are operating normally."

“In connection with the current situation in Tunisia, we recommend that Russian citizens in this country exercise caution, refrain from visiting crowded places and rely on information posted on the website of the Russian Embassy.

We proceed from the premise that internal contradictions in Tunisia will be settled exclusively in the legal field.

We hope that in the future, Russian-Tunisian friendly relations and multifaceted cooperation will progressively develop for the benefit of the peoples of our countries, ”the Foreign Ministry added.

In Tunisia, amid massive protests, President Qais Said announced the suspension of parliamentary activities and the resignation of Prime Minister Hisham Mashishi.

He also stripped the immunity of all deputies.

Later it was reported that the European Union calls on all parties in Tunisia to restore parliamentary activity in the country, said the head of EU diplomacy Josep Borrell.
