China News Service, July 27, reported that on the 26th local time, former U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer was attacked and robbed in Oakland, California, but was not seriously injured.

  A spokesperson for Boxer's office said that the 80-year-old Boxer was pushed behind the back by the attacker. After the attacker stole his mobile phone, he jumped into a waiting car.

Boxer was glad that he was not seriously injured.

  The Oakland Police Department stated that the incident occurred at the 300th block of 3rd Street at 1:15 pm local time on the 26th.

  Police said the suspect "forcibly took" Boxer's mobile phone and fled the area in a waiting vehicle nearby.

  The Robbery Division of the Oakland Police Department is investigating the case.

The department offered a reward of up to $2,000 to arrest the suspect.

  Boxer served as a member of the U.S. Congress from 1983 to 1992, and then served as a senator of Congress until 2017.
