“Currently in Karelia there are 22 forest fires on an area of 15,239 hectares in Muezersky, Kalevalsky, Belomorsky, Pryazhinsky, Olonetsky, Segezhsky, Suoyarvsky, Sortavalsky districts.
11 fires on an area of 8096 hectares have been localized, ”the statement says.
It is specified that the increase in the total area of fires occurred due to the carrying out of counter annealing on forest fires operating in the Pryazhinsky region.
Currently, more than 500 people are involved in extinguishing fires: the Karelian Forest Protection Center, tenants, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, fire service units, volunteers, FBU Avialesokhrana, as well as 31 people from the Arkhangelsk and Murmansk regions and about 100 pieces of equipment.
Earlier, the federal Avialesokhrana announced plans to attract additional forces to eliminate forest fires in Karelia and Yakutia.
