American Simone Biles was replaced during the all-around team at the Tokyo Olympics on Tuesday "for medical reasons" and is uncertain for the rest of the Olympics, the American Gymnastics Federation told AFP on Tuesday.

"Simone (Biles) has withdrawn from the team competition for medical reasons. Examinations will be carried out daily to determine if she can receive the medical green light for the competitions to come", the American federation told AFP in an email, without giving more details on the state of health of the gymnastics superstar.

Biles was replaced during the all-around after a stint in vault below her usual standards, concluded with a score of 13.766 points.

The four-time Olympic champion in Rio then left the room briefly, then returned to the side of teammates, this time with the status of substitute on the uneven bars and the two other apparatus on the program (floor, beam).

She did not appear injured after her stint on vault and spoke at length with her coaches.

Biles slipped on his white tracksuit with the USA logo on the back.

Arriving near the beam, an American journalist from NBC sports called out to her: "I love you Simone!", Trying to harangue the few people in the audience.

Biles greeted the presenter.

She did not appear diminished or injured and stretched along the beam and cheered on her teammates before being comforted by Cécile Landi, her French coach.

She even sketched dance steps to the sound of music that punctuates the various passages of the competitors.

The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), for its part, has confirmed that it is a substitute for the entire competition.

Sunday, during qualifying for the all-around, the American appeared unusually feverish and made several faults, including receiving.

She still managed to qualify for the six program finals in Tokyo, the individual all-around and the team all-around, as well as the four apparatus finals.

A few hours after these qualifications, she had posted on Instagram a disturbing message for her supporters: "I sometimes feel like I am carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders," she wrote.

Outstanding champion, 24-year-old Biles has five Olympic and 25 world medals to her name.
