Karlstad municipality has received about 40 comments about the electric scooters, which made their entrance into the city this summer.
The complaints are mainly about incorrect parking and security issues.
- You think you do not take into account when driving and are worried about accidents, says Lena Vesterlund, head of the unit for public outdoor environment.
"Dangerous"
Emilija Katanic confirms the image that there is careless driving and that the problem increases on weekend evenings and nights.
- People move with the scooters that they are not allowed to move.
For example, they go along Kungsgatan where the restaurants are and where the pedestrian street really is.
People ride two on the scooters and you must not do that either, it is life threatening.
Restrictions are reviewed
Today, there are 350 electric scooters in Karlstad for rent and soon even more, as a fourth rental company is about to establish itself.
The municipality is now reviewing whether any mandatory restrictions are needed for companies.
- The companies want this to work in a good way as well, of course, and we have had a good dialogue, but I see potential for improvement in terms of safety, says Lena Vesterlund.
However, she adds that the driver also has his own responsibility to follow the traffic rules.
