In Malå there are 121 registered caravans per 1000 inhabitants, in Dorotea 118. Only in Arvidsjaur and Älvsbyn are there more caravans per 1,000 inhabitants.

This according to a compilation made by the news agency Siren.

Umeå below the national average

Sweden has the highest caravan density in Europe, but in the metropolitan areas the rolling holiday homes shine with their absence.

Even in Umeå, caravans are relatively rare, as there are only 26 per 1000 inhabitants.

For the whole of Sweden, the average is 28 caravans.

Sales are increasing

The pandemic and its accompanying travel restrictions seem to have given the caravan a further boost in Sweden. During the period January-May this year, the number of newly registered caravans increased by 30 percent compared with the same period in 2020.
