This Monday July 26 at 6:20 p.m., a truck struck a patrol van in intervention with a broken down vehicle on the emergency lane, near the Saint-Jean-de-Luz interchange (Pyrenees -Atlantiques) on the A63 motorway. "The man in yellow was outside his vehicle at the time of the impact, but he was struck by his van which was propelled during the collision: he is injured and extremely shocked", writes Vinci Autoroute on Tuesday in a press release. The group wishes to call on motorists to be more vigilant during this period of departure on vacation, while five intervention vehicles have been struck over the past two weeks.

On average every week, an intervention van is struck on the Vinci motorway network, even though this type of vehicle is equipped with special signage (flashing lights, illuminated arrows on the roof of the vans, etc.).

In 2020, 49 van collisions were counted on the Vinci Autoroutes network and 131 on the entire motorway network.

A new awareness message campaign will be launched after this new accident.
