- We have seen that the younger we get in the age groups, the interest and willingness to vaccinate becomes lower, right now in any case, says Marie Ragnarsson, vaccine coordinator in the Kalmar County Region.

One reason may be the summer holidays, that you are away, are busy with summer jobs or that you prioritize other things, she thinks.

But the trend that it is slow to get those who have not yet taken the first dose to the vaccine centers is clear regardless of age group.

That is why the region opens the booking for 16- and 17-year-olds a week earlier than expected.

- I just looked at the statistics on different municipalities, and it increases some percentage per municipality and week, and it is very little.

So it's slow right now, says Marie Ragnarsson.

Make maturity assessment

Region Kalmar has not yet planned any targeted information effort for the group, other than to adapt in which media they advertise about vaccination.

To be vaccinated, the signature of both guardians is required, but the region has decided to also vaccinate young people who pass a so-called maturity assessment.

It is done on site by the nurse who prescribes the vaccination.

- It is common in healthcare.

If you are informed about what it means to be vaccinated, you are mature.

You have still gone to the vaccination center and taken a position, then you have to have that dialogue.
