New measures, new reports and highlights: an update on the latest developments in the Covid-19 pandemic around the world.

- France: 40 million first-time vaccinated -

France passed the 40 million mark on Monday who had received at least one dose of anti-Covid vaccine, President Emmanuel Macron announced in a tweet.

This corresponds to almost 60% of the population and about 75% of the adult population.

More than 33 million of them are fully vaccinated, almost half of the total population.

Also in France, the Constitutional Council will render its decision on August 5 on the law providing for the controversial extension of the health pass and the vaccination obligation for caregivers, adopted definitively on Sunday evening by Parliament.

- Record cases in Iran -

The daily number of Covid-19 contaminations crossed for the first time the threshold of 30,000 cases in Iran, the Ministry of Health announced on Monday, less than a week after the last daily record recorded by the country.

In the past 24 hours, Iran has recorded 31,814 new cases of contagion, with the total number of cases exceeding 3.7 million.

- Ireland: return to the restaurant for the vaccinated -

Restaurants, pubs and other bars in Ireland can since Monday again serve customers in theaters, provided they present a vaccination passport or are cured of the coronavirus within the last six months.

- Restrictions relaxed in Indonesia -

Small stalls, street restaurants and a few shopping centers reopened in Indonesia on Monday.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo, however, announced on Sunday evening that the partial confinement imposed in early July would continue until August 2 in an attempt to stem the spread of the highly contagious Delta variant.

- The air continues to suffer -

Irish airline Ryanair and British Heathrow Airport have seen their losses worsen in recent months due to travel restrictions and uncertainties.

If Ryanair waits for a summer recovery and slightly raises its traffic forecasts, Heathrow warns that the number of passengers passing through its hub in 2021 could be lower than in 2020.

- JO: cases in the Dutch delegation -

Cases of Covid-19 were detected in the Dutch delegation to the Olympic Games in Tokyo, leading to the withdrawal of a pair of men's doubles in tennis and the isolation of the rowing team.

The Dutch decided to isolate themselves on their own, despite the lack of any official contact, "in order to inspire confidence in other countries and in the volunteers," said Netherlands team manager Hessel. Evertse.

- More than 4.16 million dead -

The pandemic has killed more than 4.16 million people worldwide since the end of December 2019, out of more than 194 million confirmed infections, according to a report established by AFP on Monday at 10 a.m. GMT.

The United States is the country with the most deaths (610,891), ahead of Brazil (549,924) and India (420,967).

The WHO estimates, taking into account the excess mortality directly and indirectly linked to Covid-19, that the toll of the pandemic could be two to three times higher than that which is officially established.
