Clashes between supporters and opponents of the Tunisian president

Hundreds of people gathered under the blazing sun in front of the Tunisian parliament building on Monday, throwing stones, empty bottles and eggs at their political opponents, while police separated protesters with metal barriers.

Hundreds of Tunisian police stood up to separate supporters and opponents of President Kais Saied after he sacked the prime minister and suspended parliament late on Sunday.

While members of Parliament from the Ennahda party sat outside the parliament building, demanding to be allowed entry, their opponents refused to allow them to enter parliament.

The President of the Tunisian Republic, Kais Saied, issued a presidential order deciding to dismiss Hicham Al-Mashishi, the head of government in charge of managing the affairs of the Ministry of the Interior, Ibrahim Al-Bertaji, the Minister of National Defense, and Hasna Ben Suleiman, the minister to the prime minister in charge of public service and the acting minister of justice.

The statement indicated that according to the same order, it was decided that the secretaries-general or those charged with administrative and financial affairs at the head of the government and the aforementioned ministries would handle their administrative and financial affairs until a new prime minister and new members were named.

The Presidency of the Republic called on the Tunisian people to pay attention and not to slip behind the advocates of chaos.
