According to Yushkov, earlier Ukrainian politicians said that Nord Stream 2 would not be built, then the stage of bargaining began, now, as the expert explained, the stage of adoption has come and they are starting to think about how to live on.

“Hydrogen must be produced from something.

Basically, now in the world, hydrogen is produced from methane, from ordinary natural gas.

Ukraine itself produces 20 billion cubic meters of gas, but consumes 30. They should at least get away from this.

There is a second way: from renewable energy sources - to receive electricity from wind turbines, solar panels and to obtain hydrogen by electrolysis of water.

Europeans want to develop such hydrogen at home, this is the so-called green hydrogen, and it is the most valuable for Europeans, ”the analyst added.

At the same time, he noted that the possible development of green hydrogen is problematic for Ukraine.

“Their nuclear power plants are working at full capacity - they satisfy domestic demand. They already have renewable energy sources, but they just create more problems for Ukraine. They give little electricity, but in order for them to develop, they were given subsidies, they buy electricity at high prices. It turns out that they give little electricity, and they spend a lot of money on themselves from the energy market. Therefore, if they build even more renewable energy sources to produce hydrogen, then it turns out that the electricity tariff for the population will be high. These are all some kind of stories for ordinary people ... I think that no hydrogen industry will arise in Ukraine, "the interlocutor of RT concluded.

Saakashvili said earlier that after the launch of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, Ukraine needs to start developing its own resources, including green hydrogen.
