All of Hesse shines in light green on the Corona map - except for Frankfurt: Despite an overnight decline, the central incidence indicator remains above the 35 mark. This makes the Main metropolis the only city in Hesse with more than 35 confirmed new infections reported within a week 100,000 inhabitants.

According to the Robert Koch Institute, only seven other cities and districts have higher values in all of Germany.

As a result, not only is the test obligation for indoor catering in Frankfurt still in place, the relatively high incidence also affects public sports.

For example, Eintracht against St.Etienne can only let 5000 fans into the Waldstadion instead of the expected 10,000.

If the index does not fall below the mark 35, then Eintracht's first Bundesliga home game could also take place in front of such a manageable backdrop. This provides for new guidelines that the heads of the state chancelleries agreed on over the weekend. Accordingly, a maximum of 25,000 spectators are only allowed in a stadium if the incidence is below 35. The same applies to comparable major events. You can find the currently generally applicable corona rules in Hesse here.

As the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) announced, the Hessian health authorities reported 38 more positive PCR tests overnight, a week ago there were just as many. A month ago, the RKI had recorded 24 new cases. Since the pandemic began in March of last year, 293,768 people in Hesse have officially been infected with a variant of the corona virus. Around 1900 of these are not yet over.

According to the RKI, the incidence for Hessen stagnates at 17.7 after 7.5 before four weeks.

Hamburg, Berlin and Saarland show higher values.

The index there is over 22. In Hessen, only seven of the 26 regions, including the major cities, still have a single-digit incidence.

The district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg holds zero.

Frankfurt comes after a slight decrease to 36.1, Darmstadt follows with 31.3 ahead of Offenbach with 26.1 and Wiesbaden with 25.5.

According to the RKI, two more deaths are to be mourned in connection with the pandemic.

Since the pandemic began, 7,576 people have officially died from or with Covid-19.

60.5 percent of Hessians with the first vaccination

The centrally located federal state is still below the federal average for both vaccination rates: According to the latest data, 60.5 percent of people in Hesse have received a first vaccination against the coronavirus.
