"Wendy Sherman emphasized the importance of bilateral strategic partnership and discussed ways to strengthen democratic institutions, Mongolia's sovereignty, and diversify its economy," the US State Department said in a statement.
Sherman also met with representatives of the Mongolian armed forces and expressed appreciation for Mongolia's commitment to maintaining peace in Afghanistan.
Earlier it became known that Wendy Sherman will lead the US delegation to negotiations with Russia in Geneva on July 28.
