“Currently, there are 21 forest fires in the republic on an area of 11,044.30 hectares: in Muezersky, Kalevalsky, Belomorsky, Pryazhinsky, Olonetsky, Segezhsky, Suoyarvsky, Kondopozhsky and Pitkyaranta districts.
Ten fires on an area of 4885.3 hectares have been localized, ”the statement says.
To date, about 500 people have been involved in extinguishing fires: the Karelian Forest Protection Center, tenants, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, fire service units, volunteers, Avialesoohrana, 31 people from the Arkhangelsk and Murmansk regions, as well as 110 pieces of equipment.
Earlier, the federal Avialesokhrana announced plans to attract additional forces to eliminate forest fires in Karelia and Yakutia.
