It was during the night until Friday that the Gotland rabbits were stolen from the 4H farm in Alvesta, which Smålandsposten was the first to tell.

4H suspects that the crime was planned.

The thieves had used tools to cut up the chicken net to access the rabbits.

Breed to preserve the breed

Gotland rabbits are classified as an endangered Swedish pet breed by the Swedish Board of Agriculture.

The idea is that the Gotland rabbits will be bred on the 4H farm to preserve the breed.

But despite the fact that the two females have been stolen, the breed is largely not in danger.

- They have a fairly large distribution now, so just two females do not do much, says Lina Nilsson, activity manager at 4H.

Femman and Elia - as the rabbits are called - are popular with the children who visit the farm.

- I had intended to cuddle with them, says the disappointed visitor Algot, 7 years.

Many visitors come to the farm just to pet the rabbits.

"Learn to be hard to find them"

4H now urges the public to keep an eye out for the rabbits on, among other things, advertising sites.

- If we are lucky, they will appear on an advertising site, otherwise it will be difficult to find the rabbits, says Lina Nilsson.

The case has been reported to the police.
