- We have staff on site who help to pack the cars as much as possible and when the parking spaces are full you have to take another beach to swim at, says Alf Quint, operations manager at the street unit in Ystad municipality.

The problem with incorrectly parked cars that clog the roads to the beaches along the coast of Skåne is not new.

For emergency services and ambulance personnel, it can be a problem to arrive in the event of an accident.

Looking for new parking spaces

The municipality is trying to solve the problem in collaboration with the Swedish Transport Administration and the County Administrative Board by, for example, developing new parking spaces and Alf Quint views this positively.

- For several years we have had a dialogue with the Swedish Transport Administration and have not progressed, but it feels like it has loosened up a bit, says Alf Quint.

Cars are towed away

Parking attendants ensure that cars park correctly and the traffic unit fines those who park incorrectly.

- We will tow away incorrectly parked cars gradually and we will do so as soon as this occurs.

We must have free roads for the rescue service, so it is moving vehicles immediately, says Alf Quint.
