UN calls on China to cooperate with WHO on the origin of COVID-19

This was stated by the Deputy Official Representative of the UN Secretary General Farhan Khak.

"We call on all UN member states, including China, to cooperate with WHO to the extent necessary," TASS quoted him as saying.

Haq noted that WHO is in charge of the investigation.

“We leave full guidance to them on how this investigation is conducted,” he added.

Earlier, scientists from China, citing an article in the journal Science China Life Sciences, stated that COVID-19 is of natural origin.

Director of the Wuhan National Biosafety Laboratory Yuan Zhiming said that the Wuhan Institute of Virology said there was no evidence of a possible leak of coronavirus from the laboratory.

White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the United States considers China's "irresponsible and dangerous" stance to investigate the circumstances of the coronavirus pandemic.
