The Thuringian CDU parliamentary group spoke of a "smear comedy" with a view to the AfD's vote of no confidence in Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow (Left Party).

But it is part of the staging itself.

She remained seated in the vote.

Resistance, if you want to use that big word, that's not it;

it only increases awareness of the AfD.

The CDU parliamentary group apparently found itself unable to take part in the vote because they feared that their ranks are by no means firmly closed against Björn Höcke, who is also extremely right-wing within the AfD.

Contact block to the AfD?

This is how the tragedy continues in Thuringia.

Since one did not want to make a “common cause” with the AfD with a view to new elections, the parties have to deal with the situation as it emerged from the decision of the sovereign in the state election.

The parliamentarians, who are representatives of all citizens according to the state constitution and have the duty to use their strength for the good of the country, must move.

In the interests of the country, if there is no other option, one must also work selectively with a Prime Minister of the Left Party.

And on the other hand, the self-imposed ban on contact with the AfD must not counteract its goal: Those who exclude any joint vote with the party from the outset will only give the extremists more power.

Thuringia did not deserve this tragedy.
