Stomach upset, cough, mucus on the mucous membranes and effects on intestinal function, airways and digestion are some of the most common symptoms of the hereditary disease cystic fibrosis that affects about 20 children in Sweden each year.

- The doctors treated her for cold asthma, viruses and constipation but nothing helped, says Hoda, Nour's mother.

Became bedridden: "Something was wrong"

After several misdiagnosis, Nour became so ill that she stopped playing and could not get out of bed.

- We visited the emergency room several times and in the end I told the doctors that we would not go home until she was properly examined, says Hoda.

Eventually, the doctors discovered that Nour was suffering from cystic fibrosis and began treatment.

Today, she has a button in her stomach to get nourishment and a venous port implanted in her breast to be able to leave samples without having to be stabbed in the arm.
