Matthieu Androdias and Hugo Boucheron in the men and Hélène Lefebvre and Élodie Ravera-Scaramozzino in the women, qualified Friday for the semi-finals of the rowing of the Tokyo Olympic Games in the two-scull category.

The French team in four of a female pair, made up of Violaine Aernoudts, Margaux Bailleul, Marie Jacquet and Emma Lunatti, will however be in the draft, having finished last in their series, dominated by the Chinese.

The Androdias-Boucheron pair, European champions and one of France's serious medal chances, finished first in their series in the playoffs.

They beat the Chinese world champions Liang Zhang and Zhiyu Liu and the Russians competing under the neutral banner, Ilya Kondratyev and Andrey Potapkin.

Lefebvre and Ravera-Scaramozzino for their part finished third in their series, behind New Zealanders Brooke Donoghue and Hannah Osborne, and Americans Genevra Stone and Kristina Wagner.

The semi-finals for men and women in pairs were initially scheduled for Monday, but will finally take place on Sunday due to a change of program announced by the organizers linked to a deterioration in weather conditions expected on Monday.
