In a discussion thread on SVT Norrbotten's Facebook page about the news that the newly laid out beach in Kurravaara does not have an exemption from the beach protection rules, Gunnar Selberg writes, among other things:

"From the municipality, we will of course do everything to ensure that this beach remains and develops into something even better."

And:

"In addition to the help we can provide in the actual handling of the case, we are prepared to go in with financial help to instead develop this beach."

SVT has shown the post to Olle Lundin, professor of administrative law at Uppsala University.

Can a politician make a statement like this?

- He (editor's note Gunnar Selberg) is out cycling completely, he has nothing to do with this.

Each board is its own authority.

This is a matter of the Planning and Building Act and it is the board that must handle it entirely.

No one else may interfere. It is in no way compatible with the Local Government Act or the form of government, that is, our constitution.

Can a politician who speaks in this way receive any form of retaliation?

- The Local Government Act is a funny regulation, if you break it nothing happens, but on the other hand you can think it's a bit beautiful with a politician who follows the Local Government Act and the constitution and is not as limitless as he obviously is.
