23 July 2021 Tensions remain high in Haiti. Clashes and gunshots at the funeral of the slain president Jovenel Moise.



Before the ceremony, hundreds of protesters clashed with police outside the private residence. Gunshots broke out and tear gas and black smoke spread in the heavily guarded ceremony.



The shouts of the protesters overwhelmed the religious leaders who were speaking at the funeral.



Two US officials confirmed that there was an incident at the event and that the US delegation left early. All members of the delegation have been secured and do not appear to have been targeted, according to diplomatic sources.
