The Isère massifs have been the scene of several tragedies for ten days.

The most recent saw a trail runner in his fifties, originally from Drôme, to be found dead Thursday in Vercors.

As revealed by France 3, a hiker walking in the Villard-de-Lans sector made the macabre discovery at the end of the afternoon.

On his arrival on the spot, the high mountain gendarmerie platoon (PGHM) of Isère could only note the death of the fifty-year-old, whose disappearance had not been reported.

An area that requires suitable equipment

According to the first elements of the investigation, the victim would have died the same day and she was then on a ridge "requiring equipment suitable for climbing or mountaineering", specifies the PGHM.

A slip could be at the origin of this fatal fall, which echoes the death of another trail runner on July 13.

He was found dead near the lakes of Sept-Laux (Isère) after spending the night outside, in the middle of a storm, without suitable equipment.

Faced with this "significant increase in day and night relief operations" since the beginning of the summer, the prefect of Isère Laurent Prévost has just published a press release.

“Risky behavior must be avoided and the practice of sporting activities in the mountains must be done with the greatest caution,” he recalls in particular.
