The Olympic Games, which kicks off Friday in the Japanese capital, Tokyo, will witness the first appearance of 4 sports at once in the Olympic Games.

Karate, skateboarding, sports climbing and windsurfing were included for the first time in the Olympic program through this course.

A look at these four new sports

Karate:

The Tokyo Olympics will witness competition in two karate disciplines, kumite and kata.

The kumite specialty, the bout competition, includes 3 weights for both men and women.

In kata, athletes stand alone on the competition arena and review a set of saved moves from the sport log, and the winner is determined through points awarded by 7 judges.

Stars of the game:

Spain and Japan top the world rankings for the game at both the men's and women's levels.

It is expected that Spanish Sandra Sanchez will compete with her main competitor, Kayo Shimizu, for the title in the kata competition.

Japan's Rayo Kayuna is running as a leading candidate, but faces tough competition from Damian Quintero.

Skateboarding:

There are two competitions, one in the park and the other on the street.

Park competitions are held on smooth tracks or trails, which allow skaters to gain greater height and perform acrobatics, while the street simulates an urban environment using handrails, sidewalks and benches.

Skaters are evaluated on how difficult their tricks are over a strictly defined period of time.

Stars of the game:

Sky Brown is expected to catch the eye and become the youngest British Olympic champion, especially since she is still 13 years old, and she will compete alongside her colleague Zompet Martin.

But Japan also has high hopes for Misogo Ogamoto, who won the world title at the age of 15.

Ayumu Hirano, a two-time silver medalist in snowboarding at the Winter Olympics, will also compete in the park.

Sports Climbing: Athletic climbing’s

debut at the Olympics will see competition in 3 categories of rope and belt climbing, rock climbing (a shorter wall climb without deflection) and speed climbing (a head-to-head race on the knockout rounds) with the men’s and women’s medals determined by the cumulative total of points for each who are they.

Stars of the game:

Two-time World Cup winner and two-time world champion rock climbing bronze medalist Shauna Cocci will be Britain's only representative in this competition, but she stands a good chance of a medal.

Slovenian Janja Garnbrit - a previous 6-time world champion - will be a strong candidate in this competition, while Czech Adam Ondra will stand out in the men's competitions.

Surfing: Surfing

competitions for both men and women are held at Chidashita Beach.

Days were added to the Olympic schedule to account for any unfavorable weather.

Athletes compete in groups of 4 competitors, and the best two will be determined based on the quality of the maneuvers to advance to the next stage.

Competitors will be penalized if they do not follow the usual rules and etiquette for surfing.

- Stars of the game:

Brazil is expected to dominate the game for the men's category through Gabriel Medina, the winner of the world title and his colleague Italo Ferreira. In contrast, American Carissa Moore stands out in the women's category, but the Japanese competitors may benefit from their knowledge of local weather conditions.
