With the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics just around the corner, the officials in charge of the opening ceremony resigned or fired one after another due to accusations in the past.

The Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Organizing Committee has announced that it has fired Kentaro Kobayashi, the director of the opening ceremony, which was controversial for past videos that caricature the genocide of Jews during World War II.

In the past, Kobayashi caused controversy when a video in which he said "Let's play mass killings of Jews" in a contest spread on social media and so on.

Seiko Hashimoto, chairman of the organizing committee, apologized for the dismissal of Kobayashi at a press conference today (22nd).

The organizing committee is known to have made a quick decision to dismiss the Kobayashi-related controversy in order to prevent it from spreading into a diplomatic issue.

Keigo Oyamada, who was the music director for the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics, also stepped down after being embroiled in controversy over bullying disabled people during his school days.
