The letter to the Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi has been published on the official website of the Rada.

“I appeal to the US Congress to consistently continue the policy of sanctions that would prevent the completion and commissioning of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline and, if necessary, consider the possibility of introducing additional strengthened sanctions against legal entities and individuals involved in its construction,” says in the text of the document.

Razumkov also called on Congressmen to refrain from agreements that would pose a threat to the energy security of Europe or to the national interests of Ukraine and the United States.

The Speaker of the Rada sees in the construction of Nord Stream 2 the goal of forming the dependence of European countries on the gas monopoly of Russia.

The United States and Germany previously reached agreements on the pipeline project.

They say that "if Russia tries to use energy as a weapon," then Germany, in turn, "will insist on effective measures at the European level, including sanctions" to limit the possibilities of Russian exports to Europe.

Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov, commenting on the situation, noted that it is useless to threaten Russia.
