July 22, 2021Giant jellyfish appeared in the Azov Sea in the Krasnodar region of Russia. Vacationers complain and avoid entering the water. The jellyfish have also invaded the villages of the Yejsk district.

The largest ones reach 40 centimeters in diameter, making people afraid to enter the water.

However, according to Russian ecologists only large specimens of the Rhizostomeae family are dangerous, and only when touched. "Basically, they seem very large and have big stinging cells - burn human skin with poison. These jellyfish are not to be touched, collected and captured.

It is worth mentioning that you can also be burned by jellyfish that were thrown on the shore" , said expert Veniamin Golubitchenko.

In addition, according to him, in the Sea of Azov there are small four-leaf clover jellyfish belonging to the genus Aurelia (Aurelia aurita). They also burn with their tentacles, but more often they are only dangerous for allergy sufferers, small children and the elderly. On the Ukrainian coasts, on the other hand, municipal services load whole tractors with jellyfish, take them away from the beaches and bury them under the ground.
