"President Biden on Thursday plans to impose targeted individual sanctions against officials of the Cuban government," the newspaper writes.

According to The Washington Post, citing a source, the sanctions will affect a limited number of persons representing the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Armed Forces, who are "responsible for the suppression of recent protests" in the republic.

On July 16, Biden said that the country could consider measures to "help the Cuban people."

The State Department also said that after the protests in Cuba, the United States is exploring the possibility of increasing the number of employees at the American embassy in Havana.

As noted in Moscow, the United States is trying to apply the "color revolution" algorithm to Cuba.
