The State and the European Commission are continuing their "difficult" discussions around the EDF reorganization project, the group's CEO, Jean-Bernard Lévy, said on Thursday.

"According to the information we have, the discussions between the State and the European Commission on the reform of Arenh (the nuclear electricity that EDF sells to alternative operators, Editor's note), and therefore the reform of EDF (which would follow), continue ", indicated Mr. Lévy.

"They remain difficult and today we have no other comments to make on this subject," he added, responding to a question from a shareholder during a general meeting of the group intended to appoint a new administrator.

Initially baptized "Hercule", the "Grand EDF" project aims to reorganize the company, which is heavily indebted, into three entities to enable it to develop in renewables, while ensuring heavy investments in nuclear power.

A major point of disagreement between Paris and Brussels is the degree of relationship between the future EDF entities: the first demands that the group remain integrated, with a single strategy and financial flows between the activities, while the Commission demands separations between them.
