The decision has just fallen, a year after the second round.

In Cholet (Maine-et-Loire), where Gilles Bourdouleix (DVD) was re-elected mayor of the city, voters will again have to go to the polls.

Tuesday, the Council of State indeed decided to cancel the municipal election because of irregularities which occurred before the second round.

An appeal had been filed by one of the candidates (eliminated in the first round with 8.4%), Philippe Renaudet, after two of his running mate had joined the various left list of Anne Hardy without his agreement, which is contrary to article L.264 of the electoral code.

The centrist, who had ruled out any merger of the list, had been dismissed by the administrative court but therefore finally won his case with the Council of State.

Anne Hardy ineligible for one year

For having led an "irregularly constituted" list, the leader of the opposition Anne Hardy "was declared ineligible for all elections for a period of one year", we can also read in the decision of the Council of State.

She will therefore not be able to participate in the new ballot, which must be organized within three months.

In the meantime, the city will be governed by a special delegation appointed by the prefect, says

Ouest-France.
