In the trial of the killing of a married couple on a riding stables in Maintal-Dörnigheim (Main-Kinzig district), the defense appealed to the Federal Court of Justice.

The two perpetrators were sentenced to ten and a half years in prison last week by the Frankfurt Regional Court for manslaughter.

According to the court, they killed the landlords in June 2014 after a dispute over financial matters on the farm and buried the bodies under a dung heap.

In two previous lawsuits, the 66-year-old father and his son (36) were acquitted by the Hanau district court. The Federal Court of Justice overturned both judgments and finally referred the matter to Frankfurt for renegotiation. In the third trial, the jury chamber no longer assumed a self-defense situation and sentenced the men to prison terms.
