The AStA of the Goethe University fears that the alleged right-wing terrorist Franco A. could be a danger to the university.

A. currently has to answer before the Higher Regional Court, but is at large.

The Bundeswehr officer is accused of having acquired a false identity as an asylum seeker in order to commit attacks and to blame refugees for them.

A. denies this.

According to the AStA, “activists” have revealed that Franco A. is a registered student of law. He had already attracted attention in the past with a "völkisch" master's thesis. "He is a danger to his fellow students," says AStA chairwoman Kyra Beninga. The university management must therefore take precautions to protect all university members. In addition, one needs a "comprehensive strategy on how to deal with armed right-wing terrorists at the university". Law student Bella Rauner criticized the fact that the department also apparently did not know how to deal with the situation.

Upon request, the University Presidium and the department announced that the university had no “special powers” in cases of any involvement of university members in alleged criminal or terrorist events. Punishing such acts is a matter for the police and the judiciary. In addition, the presumption of innocence applies until a final judgment.
