Floods in Germany: the government releases an initial emergency aid of 200 million

Following the floods in Germany, Angela Merkel had promised rapid aid without bureaucracy.

The government will just approve this Wednesday, July 21 a first emergency aid of 200 million euros to relieve the victims.

This sum will be added to the 250 million provided by the regions, the 16 Länder.

The aim is to provide relief from the deadly floods in western Germany which have left 170 people dead.

These 450 million euros will be used by the most urgent.

Support the populations and secure buildings, roads and bridges, damaged in the regions most affected by floods.

These funds will also be used to compensate for the loss of turnover of businesses and businesses.

This first aid will then be supplemented by a vast reconstruction program of several billion euros.

Berlin is also considering using the European Solidarity Fund, which financially supports EU member states in the event of natural disasters.
