An 81-year-old woman died, and two others including a child were injured when a large tree branch fell onto a recreational vehicle.

The accident occurred Monday, July 19 afternoon in a public park in Dijon.

"For an unexplained reason, an ash branch fell from about fifteen meters high on a rosalie", a pedal cart for several people, said Franck Rigolle, the director general of technical services for the metropolis of Dijon.

The accident occurred around 4:40 p.m. at Parc de la Colombière, a listed municipal area of ​​30 hectares located to the south of the city.

In addition to the deceased, a 78-year-old woman and a 7-year-old child who were in the vehicle rented in the park were taken care of by the firefighters in a relative emergency.

A 20-year-old young woman who witnessed the scene was shocked and four other people are "involved" according to the prefecture of Bourgogne Franche-Comté.

The park was quickly evacuated and a medico-psychological unit was set up, said the same source.
